Hard rock vets Molly Hatchet are mourning the death of their singer Phil McCormack, who has passed away at the age of 58. No official cause of death has been revealed and details are still scarce.

According to First Coast News, the musician's death was initially revealed Saturday morning (April 27) by The Roadducks, a rock band that McCormack had also performed with. Jay Nedry stated, "My old friend and fellow musician Phil McCormack has passed away. I'm so sad to hear this. May you rest in peace brother." He added, "Phil was a fabulous, singer, bandmate, brother, and human being. Collectively we spent thousands of hours that turned into thousands of days together, creating an unbreakable bond few people are fortunate enough to ever experience."

Molly Hatchet later also confirmed and commented on McCormack's death stating, "It is with great sorrow to announce the passing of our friend and band member, Phil McCormack. Our condolences and prayers go out to his family during this time of loss. Phil's contributions to Molly Hatchet were heard around the world. He will be missed but never forgotten.

McCormack officially joined Molly Hatchet in 1995 after appearing with them on occasion in the years prior. His first album came with 1996's Devil Canyon, the band's first release since 1989, and he appeared on seven studios album total with Molly Hatchet. The last was 2012's Regrinding the Axes.
