Yonkers Dog Abandoned Near Cemetery With Severe Throat Wound; $1,000 Reward Offered
SPCA Westchester is hoping the public can help them put a name to a face in an animal abuse case.
Dog Abandoned Near Yonkers Cemetery
According to a post on the SPCA Westchester's Facebook page, back in November of 2025 a 1-year-old mix breed puppy was seen on camera being dumped in Yonkers.
The puppy, who is now named Frankie, was found at 44 Saw Mill River Road in Yonkers in the area of Oakland Cemetery.
Once Frankie was located he was rushed to a local animal hospital as he has sustained severe injuries. Frankie was found with "a deeply infected and painful laceration to his neck and throat, largely exposing his underlying tissue"
Now, SPCA Westchester is looking for answers.
SPCA Westchester Offers $1,000 For More Info on Abandoned Pup
SPCA Westchester has taken to social media to ask for the publics help.
In a statement shared on Facebook, SPCA Westchester explains there is now a $1,000 reward in the case of Frankie.
SPCA Westchester's Humane Law Enforcement Unit is now in joint investigation with the Yonkers Police Department. They are hoping to get the publics help "identifying a dog and the person who abandoned him."
A $1,000 reward is being offered by NYS Humane Association for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
Do you recognize the dog and the human:
As we mentioned above, the dog was found with severe injuries that required a 2-hour-long emergency surgery. Warning, the photos of Frankie's injuries are disturbing:
Shannon Laukhuf, SPCA Westchester's Chief Executive Officer said in the social media statement "Without proper veterinary care, this sweet dog would have likely succumbed to his injuries."
There were also signs that Frankie was neglected "as he was extremely underweight."
