Town of Wallkill Mourns the Loss of K9 Bane

In a press release shared to social media, the Town of Wallkill Police Department shared the heartbreaking news that K9 Bane has passed away.

The press release states "The Town of Wallkill Police Department announces with profound sadness the passing of Police K-9 Bane."

Town of Wallkill Police Department goes on to say that K9 Bane "served out department and community with unwavering dedication, courage and loyalty."

They go on to add:

Revisiting K9 Bane's Time with the Wallkill Police Department

When we heard that K9 Bane passed away, we remembered his welcome to the force back in 2022.

In March of 2022 the Town of Wallkill announced the addition of K9 Bane to their team.

At the time they wrote:

Congratulations to Officer Madison Lindeman on your new assignment as the handler of K-9 Bane. We know that he will do well in basic obedience training and together both of you will serve our community with excellence. "

That they did. RIP K9 Bane, thank you for your service.

How Long Do Police K9's Work with Law Enforcement?

The Wallkill Police Department also shared some facts about police K9's.

K9s like Bane are required to "first pass basic obedience training." These police K9's also "must be able to respond to an obey the commands of their handlers without hesitation for proper control."

K9s will usually serve along side their handler in the force between 6 and 9 years.
