Road Trip to The Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY

Over the weekend my family took a little trip Upstate to Cooperstown, New York. My godson Jack is a HUGE baseball fan and wanted to celebrate his big 10th birthday soaking up all the baseball history.

So of course we had to make the trip to The Baseball Hall of Fame. I went years ago as a kid and it was just as I remembered it—Memorabilia around every corner and 3 floors of chill-inducing history. Even if you're not a sports fan, The Baseball Hall of Fame should be a stop on your museum list at some point in the future.

Protip: Go during the off-season. There wasn't a big crowd in the museum and we really got to take in all the exhibits(and there's no wait time in the restaurants in town). Plus, they make it fun for the kids with a Baseball History scavenger hunt.

Hudson Valley Mention within The Baseball Hall of Fame

There is so much information to take in while exploring the halls of the Baseball Hall of Fame. Personally, my favorite part was the exhibit on the AAGPBL (All-American Girls Professional Baseball League) and of course all the New York Yankee history around the museum.

While I was on the 3rd floor of the museum I saw a huge screen with a 27 printed on it and videos of all the Yankees World Series wins.

That caught my attention, but then I quickly glanced to the left of the display. That's where I saw a Hudson Valley mention I wasn't expecting. In a round-up of different attendance records at Major Leauge Baseball games there was a comparison to Woodstock Music Festival.

You can see it in the top right-hand corner. I have to be honest, I wasn't expecting to see anything about Bethel Woods at the Baseball Hall of Fame. I'm sure if I dug a little deeper I could find several Hudson Valley mentions in the HOF.

I guess I'll save that for my next trip.

Speaking of Bethel Woods and Woodstock, the Museum at Bethel Woods wants to hear from you.

Curators from the Museum at Bethel Woods will be traveling the country and across New York collecting "unique stories with an overall goal of collecting 4,500 Woodstock stories from the people who attended the festival."
