I am always surprised when I hear that someone has never heard of the Trailside Museums and Zoo at Bear Mountain State Park. Growing up in Orange County it was on the school Field Trip list.

This informative place that is closer than you think to just about anywhere in the HUdosn Valley is a great place to learn about the animals that call the woods and cities of New York Home.

Located at Bear Mountain State Park it is open 7 days a week from 10 AM to 4:00 PM (winter hours). They are open year-round. But if you want to see the bears and coyotes be there before 3:45 PM because that's when they tuck in for the night.
