Each week on ‘In Touch’, our locally produced public affairs program, I have the pleasure of talking with individuals and organizations from all over the Hudson Valley. We focus on non-profit organizations and volunteers who are working hard to help make all of our communities better places to live, work, and raise our families.

This week, Whitney Humphrey, Director of Development of Family Services, stopped by our studios to talk about the many programs and services that help so many in our community such as youth and family programs, community safety programs, crime victims assistance, victims services, and more. We spoke about knowing what's okay in a relationship and what isn't, how to help someone who has been a victim, and the scary statistics involving sexual abuse and children here in the Hudson Valley.

We also talked about their annual event ‘Walk a Mile in Her Shoes’, to stop sexual assault, gender violence, and domestic abuse. Each year this event gets bigger and better and helps raise much needed funds. It's also a lot of fun as men from the Hudson Valley put on high heels and, literally, walk a mile in her shoes. This year's event will be held on Saturday, October 14 at All Sport Health & Fitness in Fishkill, with registration starting at 9 am.

Even if you are unable to attend, you can still donate to this great cause. We hope to see you there.
