This year marks a very special anniversary in rock and roll: the 50th anniversary of the historic Woodstock Music and Arts Festival in Bethel, N.Y. Bethel Woods Center for the Arts is planning several days of celebration with concerts by Santana, John Fogerty, Ringo Starr and others. They will also be featuring some very cool presentations in the Museum at Bethel Woods. Original Woodstock organizer Michael Lang had planned a huge concert to celebrate, but after losing both his financing and venue, it looks as if that concert may not happen at all.

And we here at WPDH decided to commemorate in our own way. We wanted to hear your story, so a few months ago we asked WPDH listeners to share their 1969 Woodstock memories with us. We wanted to hear the good, the bad and the ugly. And we got a little of each. Some had great memories of the music:

Others had funny stories about trying to get there:

And then there were those that didn’t go, but still ended up with a great Woodstock story.

But the winning story goes to Tom, who went to the show and still has his original tickets He even sent us the picture to prove it.

Thanks to everybody who shared their stories with us. Here’s to 50 years of great memories and great rock and roll!
