Seven were arrested after police conducted an undercover prostitution sting in the Hudson Valley.

On Wednesday, the City of Newburgh Police Department, Orange County Drug Task Force and New York State Police – Troop F, Community Narcotics Enforcement Team conducted a joint "prostitution sting” in the City of Newburgh.

Undercover officers were used during the sting, which led to the arrest of seven people.

Gretchen E. Syvertsen, 29 of Newburgh, Joan E. Rowe, 25, of Plattekill, 50-year-old Matilda Garrison of Walden and 28-year-old Samantha M. Budbrow of Maybrook were all charged with prostitution.

Alberto Lopez-Rivera, 43, of Newbugh, 39-year-old Eli Breur of Chester and 49-year-old Dwanye D. McGriff of Albany were all arrested for patronizing a prostitute

“Prostitution is not a ‘victimless crime’,” Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler said. “It denigrates the lives of those who find themselves compelled to become prostitutes and destroys the quality of life of those residing and working in those neighborhoods. My office will continue to seek dispositions where those who have acted as prostitutes can get the assistance they need to escape that destructive lifestyle and will continue to punish those who patronize prostitutes.”
