A man in an upper Hudson Valley prison is accused of killing someone while in prison.

On Tuesday, 40-year-old Anthony Paradise was arraigned on a sealed indictment handed down by a Greene County Grand Jury for murder, based on an incident that took police on Nov. 9, 2018, at the Greene Correctional Facility in the Town of Coxsackie.

Paradise is accused of killing his cellmate, Delmus Tanner inside the prison cell they shared. Tanner died as a resulted of being strangled, officials say. It's unclear what provoked the alleged attack.

According to the Times Union, Paradise was in prison for robbing a bank in 2017 in Saratoga Springs while Tanner was serving a 5-year prison sentence for attempted drug sale.

The indictment was a result of an intense investigation by the NYS Police, Department of Corrections & Community Supervision and the Greene County District Attorney's Office. Paradise was arrested, processed and returned to DOCCS to await further proceedings.
