A Hudson Valley man killed a local college student in an alleged drunken crash.

On Friday in Dutchess County Court, according to District Attorney William Grady, Robert J. Dancy, 36, from Stamford pleaded guilty to vehicular manslaughter, a class C felony.

“Dancy was heavily intoxicated, having a blood-alcohol content of more than two times the legal limit, while driving south on Route 9G in Rhinebeck on December 7, 2018, when he swerved across lanes of traffic and crashed, head-on into the victim’s vehicle," Grady said in a press release.

The victim, Emily Wooton, a Culinary Institute of America student from Vermont, was killed in the crash.

As part of his plea agreement, a judge advised Dancy will be sentenced from 3.5 to 10 years in prison.
