A motorcycle accident on the Taconic State Parkway Sunday killed a man and injured another. According to a press release from the New York State Police, the accident occurred in Putnam County between Bryant Pond Road and Peekskill Hollow Road.

Authorities discovered after investigation, approximately six motorcycles were traveling northbound when the man in the lead lost control around a turn and stuck the center guard rail. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

As a result of the accident several cars reduced speed, an additional motorcyclist hit the rear end of a car and was ejected from his bike. He was taken to Hudson Valley Hospital, his injuries are considered non-life threatening.

The Taconic State Parkway is more than 100 miles long and begins in Westchester. According to NewYorkStateRoads.com Bryant Pond Road is 23.1 miles up, while Peekskill Hollow Road is 25.8, with the accident occurring between the two exits.

Names of the victims are being withheld pending family notification.
