Philadelphia, PA - A manufacturer of infant's and children's liquid medication pleaded guilty to a federal criminal charge of knowingly selling products that contained metal particles.

McNeil Consumer Healthcare, of Fort Washington, Pennsylvania will acknowledge that they sold adulterated bottles of Infants' and Children's Tylenol and Children's Motrin. They have agreed to pay $25 million to resolve the case.

Metal particles, including nickel, iron and chromium, were introduced during the manufacturing process at McNeil's plant in Fort Washington. McNeil knew about the problem for nearly a year but failed to take immediate steps to fix it, as reported by ABC 13.

The company issued a recall in 2010. The FDA said the risk of serious medical problems was remote.
