Update: As of 1:46 p.m., 511 New York was stating the roadway was open but with heavy stop and go traffic from exit 15A to Ramapo. In addition, a car crash in the same area as the brushfire has also slowed traffic dramatically.

Original story: A brushfire has caused the northbound side of the New York Thruway to close Friday afternoon as first responders work to extinguish the flames.

511 New York reported an incident on I-87 northbound between exit 15A and the Woodbury Toll Barrier at 11:30AM on Friday. However, a Townsquare Media of the Hudson Valley employee observed the northbound Thruway lanes completely closed and no traffic being permitted through the area shortly after 1PM.
