A train hit a taxi on Thursday in Ulster County.
Just before noon on Thursday a train struck a taxi just south of the Village of Saugerties. The incident occurred where the CSX tracks cross Doyles Lane, a dead-end street running along Kings Highway.
The crossing has no gates or warning lights, just a stop sign as seen above.
A dispatcher for the Saugerties Police confirmed that police units were on the scene, and that there is no additional information at this time.
Police did report that Kings Highway was closed between Rt. 212 and Tower Drive due to the accident.
Update: A 50-year-old Saugerties woman, a passenger in the taxi, was killed as a result of the crash. The taxi driver and a second passenger suffered what appears to be non-life threatening injuries.
