New York State Police say they've arrested a man in the Hudson Valley that was wanted for a Christmas day attempted murder in the Albany area.

Wednesday afternoon, State Police stopped a 2006 Hyundai Elantra traveling southbound on Interstate-87 near Tuxedo in Orange County. The car matched the description of a vehicle driven by a suspect who was wanted for attempted murder by the City of Schenectady Police Department. Police were able to find the car after it was spotted by a keen-eyed toll collector at the Harriman toll booth.

23-year-old Christopher L. Cowen was pulled over near the Orange/Rockland County border and arrested. The Cohoes native was taken into police custody without incident. Police say Cowan gave authorities a Cohoes address; however, police believe both he and the victim reside in Connecticut.

According to CBS 6 Albany, Cowen repeatedly stabbed his roommate on Christmas evening while the victim was sitting in a parked car in the Capital Region. The unnamed victim received multiple cuts to his face and neck area. He was sent to an area hospital with non life-threatening injuries. He's since been discharged.

Cowen was charged with attempted murder.
