Netflix Raising Rates For ‘Grandfathered’ Customers
The price for Netflix's streaming service will be increasing next month.
Originally, Netflix offered their service for $7.99 a month for their standard service. In 2014, Netflix started raising their rates, first to $8.99, and then to $9.99 last October, reported by CBS 6.
Now, here's the catch:
Customers that locked in that $7.99 a month fee, were grandfathered in and not affected by the rate increases. However, all that will change next month. It is estimated that 17 million users will see the the $2 increase on their bills beginning next month.
There are many reports that suggest Netflix will use the money to expand their original programming.
