As the East Coast prepares for its first major snowstorm of the winter, current predictions have the Mid-Hudson Valley missing the brunt of the weather system, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) Forecast Office in Albany.

"It's too soon to give an ultimate accumulation, but the trends have displaced the storm a little further east," said Hugh Johnson, a meteorologist at NWS Albany.

The storm is likely to track along the I-95 corridor, according to Johnson. The NWS National Headquarters noted the possibility of as much as 1 to 2 feet near and northwest of I-95. The Mid-Hudson Valley may see some accumulation but a significant storm is looking less likely.

"The storm is a little far south. There's still potential for several inches of snow but it's not the best scenario for a big snowstorm for the Mid-Hudson region," Johnson said.
