A woman died from injuries sustained in a two-car crash in Ulster County.

Detectives from the Ulster County Sheriff's Office report a fatal motor vehicle crash in the Town of Lloyd.

On Saturday at around 9:30AM, Ulster County 911 received calls reporting a crash on Route 299 between South Street and Park Lane in the Town of Lloyd.

An investigation, including witness accounts, determined a 2012 Honda Civic, driven by 51-year-old Joanne Silvestro of Highland was traveling east on Route 299 when she drifted off the roadway onto the right shoulder, struck a guide rail on the right shoulder, then crossed into oncoming traffic and hit a 2002 Toyota Camry, operated by Joseph F. Curry, 58, also of Highland.

It is currently unknown what caused Silvestro to initially leave the roadway.

Silvestro was transported by Mobile Life Support Services to Mid Hudson Regional Hospital of Westchester Medical Center (formerly St. Francis Hospital), where she died from her injuries.

Curry was taken to Vassar Brothers Medical Center and treated for minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation, however police say it’s unlikely any tickets will be issued or criminal charges filed.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by the New York State Police, Town of Lloyd Police and Highland Fire Department.
