What’s Happening This Weekend in the Hudson Valley

Saturday, March 17; 9:30-6: Hudson Valley Philharmonic 46th String Competition at Skinner Hall, Vassar College. This contest gives the community a rare chance to hear and see some of the best violinists, cellists, and violists in the world. Many past participants have gone onto have amazing musical careers. Saturday, March 17; 1:30-3: Free movie screenings every Saturday at E.B. Crawford Public Library in Monticello. The first Saturday of the month a teen movie will be shown (rated up to PG-13) and the other Saturdays will be family movies (rated up to PG). They are recent releases or films relevant to an upcoming holiday. Bring a friend and some snacks and settle in for a fun afternoon. Find more events going on in Sullivan County this weekend.
Saturday, March 17; 11: Drop-In Snowshoe lessons at Minnewaska. Designed for beginners, you will learn how to wear and adjust snowshoes, and the instructors will work with you until you are ready to head off on your own. Snowshoes rental fee is $5 per person. Saturday, March 17; 10-1: St. Patrick's Day Snakes program at the Outdoor Discovery Center at the Hudson Highlands Nature Museum. The guides will explore the legend of St. Patrick driving all of the snakes out of Ireland and will separate fact from fiction and talk all about snakes.
