Thruway Traffic Stop Leads to Felony Marijuana Charge
On December 26, 2018, at approximately 8:35 p.m., State Police stopped a vehicle on I-87 in the Town of Newburgh for a vehicle and traffic violation.
During the investigation for the vehicle and traffic violation the driver Ricky Rivera Jr., age 23, of Bronx, NY, was found to be in possession of approximately 251 grams of marijuana. Rivera was taken into custody, transported and processed at the State Police barracks in Newburgh, where he was subsequently charged with Criminal Possession of Marijuana in the 3rd Degree; a Class E Felony.
Rivera was released on an appearance ticket. A return court date of January 8, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. in the Town of Newburgh has been set.
