At first glance you probably won't see it, but look closely and you'll understand what we mean.

My family was very excited when they saw this barred owl return to our woods for the spring. For the past few years she's made a home in our yard, filling the night with her signature hoot.

As I ran to grab my camera I was lucky to snap a few quick pictures of the owl before she flew off. You can imagine our surprise when we viewed the photos on a larger screen and found dinner clutched in the owl's talons.

There's a new family of rabbits that have also made their home in the same woods near our house. Every morning I'd see them hopping around with their new bunnies in tow.

It looks like I wasn't the only one that spotted them.

Of course that's the whole circle of life, but one can't help but feel bad seeing the Easter Bunny's limp little body snatched up by that stoic old owl so close to the holiday weekend. We can only hope another rabbit comes along to fill those baskets with Reese's Peanut Butter Eggs on Sunday morning.
