Here we go with round three of severe weather warnings for the Hudson Valley this afternoon.

The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for East central Ulster County and Northwestern Dutchess County until 3 this afternoon. The storm is already impacting Kingston and is moving east at around 15 miles per hour. It is expected to impact Rhinebeck around 2:20, Staatsburg around 2:25, and Pine Plains and Stanfordville around 3.

As we have been reporting all afternoon, the main hazards with these storms are torrential rainfall, the possibility of quarter-sized hail, and wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour. As a result, minor damage to homes and vehicles are a possibility, as is the danger of falling limbs and scattered power outages.

Cloud-to-ground lightning is also being reported with this storm. Since lightning is one of nature's leading killers, please move inside ahead of this storm, preferably in the lowest level of your home or building. As this storm cell continues to move eastward, should it prompt any other weather warnings, we will update you with that information throughout the afternoon.

If you see severe weather developing in your area, please take cover and be safe before you report your conditions to the National Weather Service.
