Police: Young Teens Stole Car & Led Police on Two County Chase

A trio of teens, 15-years-old or younger, are accused of stealing a car and leading police a chase in the stolen car throughout two counties in the Hudson Valley.

Police say after three juveniles, aged 14 and 15, walked away from the Berkshire Farm Center and Services for Youth in Canaan they burglarized a local resident and stole a 2015 Toyota Camry from the home.

Within minutes of the vehicle being reported stolen, Troopers on State Route 22 in the Town of New Lebanon spotted it and attempted conduct a traffic stop. The operator allegedly refused to comply and fled. The car was then chased by members of the State Police, who coordinated efforts with the Columbia County Sheriff's Office, Dutchess County Sheriff's Office and State Police Aviation.

The pursuit across Columbia and northern Dutchess Counties ended when the vehicle drove off CR-70 in the Town of Pine Plains and became disabled.

All three teenagers had been court committed to Berkshire Farms and have since been relocated to a secure facility in the Capital district.

The subjects will be petitioned in Columbia County Family Court as juvenile delinquents, facing numerous felony allegations.

Because of their ages police are not releasing their names.
