A Montgomery man is dead after reportedly taking his own life following a four hour standoff with police.

Town of Montgomery Police Chief Arnold Amthor says that officers were called to a home Monday afternoon after receiving reports of an emotionally disturbed person who was acting irrationally. The 63-year-old resident named Jeremy Green refused to come to the door, and police reported a sound from in house that sounded like a gunshot.

The area was sealed off as residents were urged to stay inside. Reports indicate Green still refused to come to the front door. The Orange County Sheriff's Special Operations Group later entered the home where they found Green dead in his bedroom from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot, according to the report. An investigation into the incident continues at this time.
