Police continue to search for clues and hope for your help regarding a nearly 50-year-old murder of a man in the Hudson Valley.

On February 1, 1970, the body of an unidentified white man was located down an embankment off of Platte Clove Road in West Saugerties. The victim was located with multiple gunshot wounds to the back of the head. The investigation revealed that the victim was most likely killed at another location, then dumped off Platte Clove Road.

The victim was described as a white man, approximately 35-45 years old, 5’3," 155 pounds, with dark brown wavy hair.

The victim was found fully clothed wearing a long brown reversible raincoat, a green business suit, a white dress shirt, a black silk tie with the label “Playboy,” black leather shoes, gray socks and black rubber overshoes.

Police also note the victim was wearing pajamas underneath his business suit.

Although the victim was shot in the back of the head, his face was fully intact and should be identifiable. To date, the victim in this investigation has never been identified and the case remains an open homicide, police say.

Recently, a forensic sketch artist created an artistic rendering of the victim based on the crime scene and autopsy photos. The sketch was released to the public in hopes of finally identifying the victim of this homicide.
