Matt Harvey will have his chance at a World Series rematch come April 3.

ESPN reports that New York Mets manager Terry Collins named the right-hander as his starting pitcher for the 2016 season opener at Kauffman Stadium on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball. This is Harvey's first Opening Day start.

It's a huge honor. Looking around the locker room, looking at this corner, obviously Terry could have announced anybody. So for me getting the nod, it's a huge honor. It's all about how we start and come out. I definitely feel, a year after surgery, I'm definitely 100 percent and happy about the honor and definitely ready for the battle.

Harvey returned in 2015 after having the dreaded Tommy John surgery the year before. He finished with a  13-8 record with a 2.71 ERA in starts.

Collins has not name the rest of the opening-week rotation. The Mets certinaly have one of Major League Baseball's best starting pitching rotations with Harvey, Jacob deGrom, Noah Syndergaard, Bartolo Colon, and Steven Matz.
