Did You Know These Interesting Facts About Kingston, NY?


The City of Kingston shared that the area was first settled in the 1650’s. Kingston, NY was also the first capital of New York state which is fascinating!

I drove through the Four Corners area in Kingston to see the historical buildings and signs.Did you know that it's the oldest intersection in America? It's pretty cool!

Fast forward to 2025, we can continue to learn about the history of the Hudson Valley and also stay up to date about it's current projects.

The Latest Restoration Project Is Happening At This Kingston, NY Park


The City of Kingston is always filling us in on their social media platforms. In one of their latest posts, they included helpful information about a project that is happening at a local park.

Not only is this great information for us to be aware of but also because it’s around some of the most popular restaurants within the Kingston area.

The City of Kingston explained that, 

“The TR Gallo Park Electrical Restoration project has begun, which will include excavating on the west side of the park between the parking lot and Mariner’s Harbor.”

They also included that the construction area will be fenced off and this project may take about 2 to 3 months to complete. The City of Kingston mentioned that some parking spots may not be available around the construction. If we have to park further away from a local business that we can visit, we can look at it as a way to get our steps in!

What Can We Do Near TR Gallo Park In Kingston, NY?


There’s so much to experience in the downtown area of Kingston, NY. Near TR Gallo Park, we can shop local boutiques, grab something to eat and stroll through the historic district.

Mariner’s Harbor is a popular seafood restaurant located on the Rondout waterfront and I love that it overlooks the water. Savona’s is a fan favorite Italian restaurant just a few steps away from TR Gallo Park.
If you’re in the mood for tea or coffee, be sure to check out Half Moon Rondout Cafe Coffee and Donuts in the area. History buffs can explore the Hudson River Maritime Museum also located along Kingston’s Waterfront District.
