Shop That’s Been Open 4 Decades Says Goodbye to the Hudson Valley
The owner of a long-standing flower shop in the Hudson Valley will be saying goodbye.
So there's some good news and bad news with this story. The bad news is that one Hudson Valley business will be closing its doors. The good news is that it's because the owner will be retiring (we are hoping they have a nice long and healthy retirement).
I have passed by this spot many times since I started working here at the radio station and it will be interesting to see what happens with it.
The Flower Barn Florist in Poughkeepsie:
I'm sure you've seen the big red sign from the road, the Flower Barn on Violet Avenue in Poughkeepsie has been in business for 43 years. That's an amazing amount of time to be open and serving the Hudson Valley community.
Sadly, a message was recently posted on the Flower Barn's website and it said,
"Dear Customers,
After 43 years in my family business, I am retiring. Flower Barn will be closing, November 22, 2023, will be our last day. Thank you for 46 years of flowers and friendship. Sincerely, Barbara"
Thank you Barbara for making the Hudson Valley community a more beautiful and better place with your floral arrangements. We wish you nothing but the best for your retirement.
Someone posted a picture of this in a local Facebook group and many Hudson Valley residents commented on how sad they are about the retirement announcement. Better to leave while you'll be missed compared to the other way around.
Have you ever purchased a floral arrangement in the past from the Flower Barn? Share your experience with us on the station app.
