A popular New York tourist destination in Upstate New York just received an impressive title.

Lake George Receives Honorable Nationwide Title

While scrolling the Travel & Leisure website for my next summer vacation destination, I was surprised to see one of my favorite travel destinations in New York make headlines.

Travel and Leisure shared that Lake George made a nationwide list when it comes to cleanliness.  The website A-Zanimals.com curates a list of the cleanest lakes in America.

In 2024 Lake George in the Adirondacks was named the #1 cleanest lake in the US. The website doesn't explain where and how they get their data.

However, A-Zanimals.com explains that Lake George is 32 miles long and "widely considered one of the country's most beautiful and cleanest lakes." They add:

Each year, the deep blue waters of Lake George, located in the southern Adirondack State Park, attract over 50,000 summer tourists. Water skiing, jet skiing, rafting, and kayaking are among some of the water-based activities available to visitors.

Congratulations to Lake George, aka the "Queen of American Lakes!” A well deserved title any way you look at it.
