New Sourdough Bagel Shop Gets Ready to Open in Kingston
There's no such thing as too many bagel shops in New York. It looks like the Hudson Valley is getting a brand new bagel spot in Ulster County.
2 Hudson Valley Bagel Shops Win Big at BagelFest 2024
BagelFest 2024 wrapped up on Sunday, September 28th and 2 local bagel shops walked away with top honors.
Moonrise Bagels, with locations in Woodstock and their newest spot in Poughkeepsie, took home the award for Most Creative Bagel. For those who are unfamiliar, Moonrise Bagel is home to the original stuffed bagel. They stuff their homemade bagels with everything from buffalo chicken, pizza, and chicken parm to your classic bacon egg and cheese.
It's no wonder they took home the award for Most Creative.
The second Hudson Valley winner hasn't even opened up their storefront yet, which has piqued our interest considering they just won for best bagel Beyond the Boroughs.
Let us introduce you to FANTZYE Bagel of Kingston, NY.
Homemade Sourdough Bagels To Bring Joy to Kingston, New York Community
In the fall of 2020, while all of us were becoming homebakers, Elana Carlson took it a step further. Carlson opened FANTZYE Bagel on Martha's Vineyard.
At first, FANTZYE Bagel was weekend drop-offs of Bagel Kits, then it "quickly grew into something special." Carlson's delicious sourdough bagels then found a home at a local Martha's Vineyard farmers market, along with a renovated food trailer.
From there FANTZYE Bagel served an array of bagel sandwiches, loose bagels and schmears. However, by 2022 with the "rising operating costs and housing challenges on the island" Carlson moved FANTZYE Bagel to the Hudson Valley.
Now that they've gotten acclimated to their new home, FANTZYE Bagel is ready for their Hudson Valley debut.
Help FANTZYE Bagel Open Up Shop in Ulster County
On September 25th, 2024 FANTZYE Bagels shared on Instagram that they were "very close to opening" their first brick-and-mortar shop in Kingston. However, they need some help "to get to the construction finish line!"
They just launched a campaign with NuMarket.co. The donations collected by the campaign will fund "Finishing work, equipment, and smallware purchasing remains." Plus, they explain that the donations work in your favor.
Fantzye writes:
Every dollar you contribute gets you 120% back in credits to spend at Fantzye Bagels toward bagels, sandwiches, schmears, coffee, merch, and more once we open our doors.
They add "Emphasis on the merch if you are far away or gift your store credit to a friend nearby."
Sounds like a pretty sweat deal, right? You can learn more on how you can help and donate to FANTZYE Bagels on their NuMarket campaign page or on Instagram.
As for the official FANTZYE opening date, we're keeping a close eye on that and will update this story with more information.
