Jennings Creek Fire Takes a Turn Now Threatening Homes
Late Saturday afternoon more Hudson Valley fire companies went into service in the Greenwood Lake area to help with the Jennings Creek fire that has been burning for over a week now in Sterling Forest.
Firefighters from all over the United States have been working to contain this blaze which was at one point reported to be 81 percent contained.
However, reports are coming in late this afternoon, Saturday, November 16th, that the fire jumped a fire line and is now threatening homes near Edgemere Ave.

Greenwood Lake Community Turns Out to Celebrate Firefighter
Earlier on Saturday, November 16th at 9 AM, the community of Greenwood Lake and many others were part of a "Clap Out" to celebrate the firefighters and volunteers who have been working endlessly to get this fire under control and eventually put it out for good.
Jennings Creek Fire Jumps Fire Line in Greenwood Lake, New York
Sadly the news from the same afternoon has it looking like there is a lot more work ahead. The Town of Warwick has released information on its Facebook Page for residents.
The weather has not made the conditions any easier.
The dry, windy conditions we had today in the Hudson Valley are just making progress even harder. With no rain in the forecast until later this week and the persistent winds, it looks like firefighters have got a long few days ahead.
New Road Closure Due to Jennings Creek Fire in Greenwood Lake, NY
There is a new road closure reported by the Village of Greenwood Lake. East Shore Road is closed from the Village Line to Woods Road until further notice.
First Due Weather from The Compound also released a list of area fire departments that had been called in to assist late this afternoon after this new development.
Monroe Fire Department, Chester Fire Department, Warwick Fire Department, and Washingtonville Fire Department were all heading there according to a social media report from around 5:30 PM.

The Catskill Fire Company, a 100% volunteer fire department, was already on hand at the fire and shared some photos from the scene late Saturday afternoon.
Catskill Fire is currently operating at the major wildfire in Greenwood lake Orange county. Our members staffing an engine are currently locked in battle trying to save homes in jeopardy.
