
Truck Fire in Southeast New York Closes Interstate 84
If you were traveling Monday morning on Interstate 84 or Interstate 684 in the area of Brewster, New York, you may have witnessed a really bad truck fire.
Big Truck Fire On I-84 Closes Westbound Lanes During Commute Monday
I have a fear of driving on a road and passing a car on fire. I am always thinking about the chances of it blowing up as I am driving by. Fortunately, the only time I ever had to pass a car on fire there was lots of room to go around.
Monday morning, the Brewster Fire Department was dispatched by Putnam County 911 around 8:35 AM to the westbound lanes of Interstate 84. A report was received that a dump truck was on fire on I-84 under the overpass for I-684 in the Town of Southeast.
Brewster Fire Department Called to Truck Fire on I-84
According to a social media post from the Brewster Fire Department when they arrived on the scene Chief Miller discovered a tri-axle dump truck on fire. The truck cab was completely engulfed in flames.
Fortunately, the truck driver was uninjured. The Brewster Fire Department called for backup. The Carmel Fire Department sent an engine to help. The New York State Police and Putnam County Sheriff's Office also helped at the fire which caused the I-84 westbound lanes to be closed for a short time.

- Get everyone out of the car

- If the fire is in the trunk or under the hood don't open it
