Did you know that the bluest lake in the world touches New York?

I'm not sure what it is but there is something special about seeing a big body of blue water, right? If you've been lucky enough to ever take a vacation to a tropical location think about that feeling you felt when you first saw the blue waters. I don't know how to explain besides saying there's is something magical that happens.

I'm not sure if the "feeling" happens to everyone but for us New Yorkers it might happen to us because most of the water we see regularly in the Hudson Valley is nowhere near deep dark blue, it's more of a dirt brown color. Did you know that there is one blue body of water near New York that has just been named the bluest lake in the world?

Bluest Lake in the World

According to the Upstate New York website, a new study has just concluded that a lake bordering New York is the bluest lake in the entire world. The study, which was conducted by Canada Casino, analyzed the color of 80 popular lakes worldwide using unedited satellite photos to find the average HEX color code of each lake and compared it to YInMn Blue, known as the truest shade of blue to come up with a list of the 10 bluest lakes in the world.

Lake Ontario Takes Top Spot

Lake Ontario was the body of water that came closest to matching the YInMn Blue color, making it the bluest lake in the world! Lake Ontario borders parts of the Canadian province of Ontario and parts of Northern, Central, and Western New York and is one of the five Great Lakes of North America. Lake Superior, another one of the five Great Lakes was named the second bluest lake in the world followed by Moraine Lake in Canada (#3), Lake Pehoé in Chile (#4) and Lac de Sainte-Croix in France (#5).
