I am a person who enjoys a candle burning in a room. I like the light they give off and I do enjoy a scented candle if it isn't over the top.

One of my favorite things to do this time of year is restocking my candle supply. I have made a list of candle shops that I frequent and have shared it below. My constant browsing may be the reason why I recently saw a post from Candlestock in Woodstock about a new member of their staff.

As if on cue this adorable black cat shows up as a stray and the good people at Candlestock give him a place to crash. As you can see from the photo Mr. Wicks fits right in at the shop. He seems like he is already part of the displays. He was so chill. In the social media post, it said he was just hanging until he got his Fur-Ever home.

Candlestock is a very famous shop in Woodstock, New York. They are known for having a candle burning since 1969. If you visit the shop it is on display burning away as it has for decades. It is actually in the background behind Mr Wicks the Cat.

How Did Candlestock End Up With A Black Cat for Halloween

I reached out to Candlestock to see what Mr. Wick's story was all about. I figured I could help get the word out that this cool cat was looking for a home. It turns out he has one but until he can get there the great people of Candlestock have taken him in.

According to what they shared he was found as a stray and apparently, his current human was unable to keep Wicks so now he is being fostered at the shop and then he will be off to his new home. Don't tell the Candlestock crew but I think Mr. Wicks is going to try to stay. He looks comfy.

Why Do People Think Black Cats Are Bad Luck

Not everyone would take in a black cat. Some people are very superstitious. The Carnegie Museum of Natural History does a wonderful job explaining first what superstition is and then how black cats got a bad rap. It turns out it depends on who you know when it comes to black cats being good or bad luck.

According to Carnegie Welsh folklore says that black cats will bring good luck to your home. However, some European folklore has them keeping company with witches and being the bringers of misfortune.
