Rare: The Only Stewart’s Walk-Up Windows in the Hudson Valley

Earlier this week, New York Stewart's Shop fans were blown away to learn that select locations had a special walk-up window for ice cream orders (below).

While a Hudson Valley resident with a sharp memory pointed out that most Stewart's Shops used to have walk-up windows before the stores were remodeled, a call to a local store revealed that the number of windows is quickly shrinking... and there's only two left in the entire Hudson Valley.

The fuss started after Stewart's posted a photo on Facebook that was meant to advertise a sale on their waffle cones. All anyone could focus on in the comments, however, was the fact that the smiling employee was handing an ice cream cone through a walk-up window (below).

Schroon Lake, NY Stewart's Location Has Walk-Up Window

Stewart's graciously replied to the eager comments and identified the store in question as their Schroon Lake, NY location (below). Luckily, Hudson Valley residents don't have to drive all the way to the Adirondacks to experience the novelty of ordering Stewart's ice cream from a curb.

The Only Stewart's Shops in the Hudson Valley with a Walk-Up Window

Calls to local Stewart's Shops revealed that while the windows may have been more popular in the past, there's only two locations remaining in the Hudson Valley with this special novelty, starting with the Stewart's Shop on Vassar Road in Red Oaks Mill, NY (below).

Technically located at 54 Vassar Road in Poughkeepsie, NY, a very helpful employee shared that not only are there less than 10 remaining Stewart's locations in the entire state to have a walk-up window, but that the Vassar Road location was the only Stewart's in Dutchess County to have one.

The Second Stewart's Shop in the Hudson Valley with a Walk-Up Window

While the helpful Stewart's employee believed Vassar Road was the only Stewart's in the Hudson Valley with with a window, there is at least one other beloved location with the elusive feature. The other Stewart's Shop is across the Hudson River.

Not to be outdone by their Duchess County counterpart, there is another option for walk-up window-seekers in Ulster County, NY. The Stewart's Shop at 3075 NY-208 in Wallkill, NY also offers outdoor ice cream ordering (above).
