Mark your calendar, a big change will soon be happening in New York State.

I'm sure you can tell by now that I am not one for the fall and winter seasons. I wish I was one of those people who enjoyed it and could embrace it, but it's just not for this summer girl. It's tough enough watching the seasons change, dealing with the colder temperatures, all the holiday nonsense and there's another element that makes it even more difficult.

It's the day that a lot of people dread...when we changes clock back at 2:00am on Sunday November 3rd. It's a terrible day and even people who love the change of seasons don't care for this day and more darkness. It's horrible....the day feels so short, it becomes terribly dark by 4:00pm, it makes you not want to leave the house once the darkness sets in and it gets confusing because 8:00pm feels more like midnight because it's been dark forever.

It turns out, it actually makes things more dangerous across New York State when we turn the clocks back.

Why does it become more dangerous when we turn the clocks back?

According to officials, our driving conditions and even our health become more at risk when we change the clocks back an hour (I'm not just saying this to make a point and there's reasoning behind it). It's a complicated issue and there have been many mixed feelings on the whole thing.

Here are some negative things that happen when the dreaded time change day happens:

  • An increase in traffic accidents due to the extra darkness
  • People have a higher risk of having a heart attack, stroke and more health issues increase
  • Increase in mood swings, depression and feeling sad
  • Our sleep pattern gets disrupted and drowsy driving/work accidents can become more common until the clocks change again
  • The time change can have a negative impact on our bodies for years

See, the time change and "extra of hour of sleep" as people claim is not worth it. There's always been rumors that Daylight Savings will end, but here we are again getting ready for it. So, can it please end?? Can we do something about it?? Who can I write to about it?? UGH.

I know I'm not alone here, do you struggle with the time change? What do you do to help with it? Share your answers with us on the station app:
