
Hudson Valley: Have You Seen This Beautiful Guinea Pig?
Hudson Valley residents are asked to keep an eye out for an adorable guinea pig... or at least check the enclosures in their homes in case it was their animal that decided to wander off into the forest.
Unfortunately, pets are lost nearly every day in the Hudson Valley. While the animals that are found are generally dogs and cats, sometimes something unusual happens. From peacocks to crayfish, it seems that Hudson Valley residents can never know what will turn up in their yards. Now it seems that we can add guinea pigs to that list.
Missing Guinea Pig in Newburgh, NY
"Hi! I saw a guinea pig in a parking lot by State Farm in Newburgh on Route 17K", began a recent post that was shared in Lost Pets of the Hudson Valley (below). "I couldn’t catch him because he would go deep into the grass but he looks healthy and very clean so not sure how long he’s been there." The Hudson Valley had some ingenious ideas on how to catch it.

"Take a bag and start crinkling it... most guinea pigs go nuts and squeak to the sound of possible food", suggested one commenter. "Bring a net, [you] can get a butterfly net in dollar tree, he won’t survive out there with the predators", offered another.

As mentioned above, dogs and cats are the most likely pets to go missing in the Hudson Valley (or at least are the most likely to be posted on the Lost Pets of the Hudson Valley Facebook page), but there are many exotic outliers as well.

In the month of July alone, birds ranging from peacocks and guinea fowl to pigeons and parakeets have all been listed as either missing or found on Lost Pets of the Hudson Valley. This appears to be the first guinea pig.
