A local congressman is asking Hudson Valley residents to remember veterans this Valentine's Day.

This year will be the fifth year Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney has organized the annual Valentines for Veterans campaign. The initiative seeks to honor our veterans’ service and sacrifice by sending them Valentine's Day cards.

Local schools, community organizations. businesses and individuals across the Hudson Valley are being encouraged to remember our veterans this Valentine's Day. Because of the overwhelming participation over the past few years, Maloney will distribute the Valentines to local veterans service agencies in addition to veterans who live at Castle Point. Last year, Maloney delivered over 5,500 valentines made by over 50 organizations and hundreds of residents.

Maloney says the cards mean a lot to the veterans who receive them. "The vets at Castle Point get a real kick out of getting valentines from folks across the Hudson Valley, and I encourage everyone to consider taking some time to show appreciation for our veterans service and sacrifice."

Those who are interested in participating should contact Rep. Maloney’s office at (845) 561-1259. Your valentines can be mailed to or dropped off at his Newburgh District Office by 5:00 PM on Friday, February 8. More information is available on the representative's website.
