A man from the Upper Hudson Valley died in an ATV accident.

On Saturday, New York State Police from the New Lebanon barracks investigated a fatal motor vehicle crash on Bushnell Road in the town of Chatham.

At approximately 7:50 p.m., troopers were dispatched to Bushnell road for an all-terrain-vehicle crash. An initial investigation shows Brandon S. Pitcher, 27, of Kinderhook, was operating an ATV on Bushnell Road and failed to negotiate a turn, police say.

Pitcher then struck a fatally struck a tree. He wasn't wearing a helmet, according to New York State Police.

According to his Facebook, Pitcher was engaged, attended Chatham High School and studied automotive technology at Columbia–Greene Community College. He was an auto technician at Pitcher's A-1 Automotive

Chatham Emergency Medical Services, Columbia County Sheriff’s Department, and the Columbia County Coroner’s Office all responded on scene to render aid.
