Hudson Valley College Completes $13.5 Million Dollar Expansion

One of the many colleges in the Hudson Valley region just celebrating the completion of a brand new engineering expansion.

SUNY New Paltz recently announced the completion of a brand new engineering innovation hub on campus. According to New York YIMBY, The expansion cost $13.5 million. It is a two-story building designed by Urbahn Architects, at 19,500 square feet. It will be the central headquarters for the college's bachelor degree program in mechanical engineering.

New York YIMBY reports that the new building includes advanced research labs, classrooms and lecture halls, and the Hudson Valley Additive Manufacturing Center (HVAMC). There are also offices, lounges, and collaborative spaces in the new building. Plus a 300 square foot conference room, and three research and educational labs, and a 1,200 square foot computer lab.

The new building was able to be built due to the NYSUNY2020 Challenge Grant. According to New York YIMBY, SUNY New Paltz was awarded $10 million from the grant to support academic programs that add to economic development in New York State. SUNY New Paltz also received $1 million from Governor Andrew Cuomo's Mid-Hudson Regional Economic Development Council's annual Consolidated funding Application.
