A deli and apartments above it were severely damaged following a large fire in the Hudson Valley.

A second-alarm structure fire broke out at 33 Wallkill Avene in Wallkill on Thursday around 8:35 p.m.

Multiple fire departments from surrounding areas were called in help battle the blaze at the site of the Countryside Cafe.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and at least one firefighter was injured after entering the burning building, according to Odom.TV

The cafe is permanently closed, according to the Countryside Cafe's Facebook page. According to Facebook posts, the building was in the process of being renovated for a new Mexican restaurant. There are also apartments on the second floor. As of this writing, there is no word on the condition of the apartments.

The following agencies responded, Wallkill Fire Dept., Plattekill Fire Dept., Modena Fire Dept., Walker Valley Fire Dept., Coldenham Fire Dept., Town of Shawngunk Police, and the NYSP.
