On Saturday morning New York State Police and several area fire departments responded to reports of two people in "distress" in the Neversink River. According to the New York State Police a 46-year-old man and his 9-year-old son were rafting on the river when their raft overturned near the Oakland Valley Campground.

Aviation units, Underwater Recovery Teams, airboats and drones were deployed but unable to locate the subjects.  Rescuers suspended the search on Saturday night due to weather and river conditions. The search resumed on Sunday and was again suspended on Sunday night.  Rescuers resumed their search this morning at 7:30 AM.
