A Hudson Valley 14-year-old was stabbed while walking to school Wednesday morning.

New Rochelle Police say the incident happened while the student was walking to Isaac E. Young Middle School around 8:30 a.m., off school grounds. The victim was stabbed in the torso.

Police say the 14-year-old was sent to a local hospital. He is still recovering by his injuries aren’t considered life threatening.

A 13-year-old has been charged as a juvenile with assault in the case. He was released to his mother and is due to appear in court later this week.

The investigation is ongoing, at this time the knife used in the assault has not been located.

Due to the ages of the victim and suspect, authorities are not releasing their names.
