One person was injured after a home was severely damaged due to a fire in Dutchess County.

On Thursday, the Arlington Fire District was dispatched to 26 Townsend Boulevard in the Town of Poughkeepsie for a living room fire.

One person was inside the home at the time of fire and self-evacuated prior to the fire department’s arrival. The occupant was taken by Mobile Life Support Services ambulance to MidHudson Regional Hospital for smoke and burn related injuries.

The structure sustained severe damage. One displaced occupant will receive assistance from the Red Cross, officials say.

An investigation by the Arlington Fire District Fire Investigation Division determined the fire was accidental, caused by an oil lamp

No firefighters were injured while battling the blaze.

The City of Poughkeepsie Fire Department, LaGrange Fire District, T/ Poughkeepsie Police Department, T/ Poughkeepsie Building Department, and Central Hudson Gas & Electric assisted during the fire.. The Pleasant Valley Fire District and New Hamburg Fire District relocated units to cover Arlington stations.
