UPDATE: Zakk Wylde Robbed
Zakk Wylde's guitar and vest were stolen in Chicago last night (March 14). The incident happened while he was onstage at the Chicago Theater saluting the music of Jimi Hendrix as part of the 2014 Experience Hendrix tour.
"Chicago chapter BL Family!!" he wrote in Instagram, with a picture of the guitar. "Tonight during the Experience Hendrix show my Pelham Blue Les Paul Custom and leather vest was stolen at 10:11PM." Wylde then tweeted a screen capture of the Instagram post.
"In 25-plus years, I've never had anything stolen,' Wylde told the Chicago Tribune. Apparently Wylde's "beyond embarrassed" tour manager momentarily forgot to lock the tour bus door, allowing the men to commit their robbery. "Nothing gets stolen off tour buses unless you don't lock them," he said. "Rule number one: when you get off this (expletive deleted) bus, you lock the (expletive deleted) door and you check the handle."
The guitarist says the suspects are three African-American males, one of whom is tall and the other two were short and stocky. Wylde asks anybody who has information about the missing guitar to message him. With his worldwide network of Black Label Society members on the lookout, the guitarist is hopeful he'll get his gear back: "Hopefully these morons are going to go down to the flea market, or the pawn shop."
Even though Wylde is missing one of his guitars, the Experience Hendrix tour is continuing as planned. They will play the Stephens Auditorium in Ames, Iowa tonight and the Pabst Theater in Milwaukee on Sunday.
