With Wing Wars fast approaching, now is the perfect time to get schooled by a pro on the quickest and easiest way to eat chicken wings.

The average wing takes about 20 or 30 seconds to eat. By using some simple tricks you can get that time down to just a few seconds, making it easy to try as many wings as possible when Wing Wars comes to the Mid Hudson Civic Center on January 30.

First, it's important to note that there are two types of wings. The drumette, and the wingette. The drumette has just one bone through the center and usually holds the most meat. Most professional eaters agree that the best way to attack this type of wing is with the "typewriter method." This consists of holding the wing with both hands and rotating it as you scrape the meat, much like eating corn on the cob.

As for the wingette, there a few schools of thought on how to tackle it properly. The wingette has two bones that are usually hard to eat around. YouTube user, Patrick Bertoletti, demonstrates a couple of easier ways to get all of the meat that's a lot quicker.

The first method is called the "umbrella." For this trick you need to simply push down on the wingette so all of the meat gets pushed to one side. Then just eat the umbrella of meat and you're done. That's it.

Bertoletti also shows another method where you can use both hands to break the bones apart, releasing more of the meat. But if you're walking around Wing Wars with a beer in one hand, we think the one-handed umbrella would be much more practical.

So which wing-eating method will you be using at Wing Wars on January 30 at the Mid Hudson Civic Center? Do you have an even easier way to eat wings? Let us know in the comments section below.
