If you still have a campaign sign in front of your house you're breaking the law.

The election is over, but you'd never know it driving through most Hudson Valley communities. Those pesky election signs are still posted at intersections, cross streets and on front yards. Most people don't realize that these signs aren't just terribly annoying, there also against the law.

The State of New York has specific regulations about campaign signs. Where they are placed and how they can affect drivers is a primary concern for lawmakers. But another less-followed regulation dictates how long those signs are allowed to remain up after an election.

According to Campaign Trail Yard Signs, the law in New York State dictates that those political signs must be removed no later than three days after an election.

Do you hear that, Hudson Valley? Anyone who has a campaign sign on their lawn has technically been breaking the law since Friday.

While it's unlikely that you'll wind up in jail for having a Trump or Clinton sign on your yard there are some of us who were sick of this election months ago. So please, we urge you to take those signs down. They only remind us how long and painful this election season actually was.
