You Know You’re in Poughkeepsie When You See Something Like This

Only in Poughkeepsie.

I was shopping at Target in the Poughkeepsie Galleria this week when I stumbled across something that made me laugh out loud. I'm not talking about an "LOL" where someone declares that they've laughed out loud but never actually even chuckled. I seriously broke out in actual, audible laughter after seeing what was on display in the Valentine's Day section.

Among the heart shaped boxes of chocolate was a carefully placed container of Tide pods. For those who don't follow the news, idiots across the country have been taking the "Tide Pod Challenge" which consists of someone basically poisoning themselves by popping toxic Tide pods in their mouth like chocolate.

There's no way to know if this was done on purpose or if someone had to make a tough decision between clean underwear and buying chocolates for their valentine and didn't want to walk all the way back to the other side of the store to return the detergent. I'd like to think it's a viral marketing plan by Target to get people Instagraming from inside their store. If so, it certainly worked.

Either way I'd like to congratulate Target in Poughkeepsie for making me laugh out loud. For real.

And if anyone's looking for a passive aggressive way to break up with their significant other on Valentine's day, might I suggest visiting the seasonal section in Target.
