Happy Birthday Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin who is 69.  And because of that we will feature you on the WPDH Soundcheck along with Queen whose former bassist John Deacon celebrates his 66th.  Plus Kansas and so much more.  Sunday night at 10pm on 101.5 WPDH and the WPDH app.

Robert Anthony Plant was not the first choice for Jimmy Page's new band, it was musician Terry Reid.  Reid said that he should go to a show at a teacher-training college in Birmingham, England where Plant was singing with a band called "Obs-Tweedle".  Plant sand a Jefferson Airplane tune "Somebody to Love" and Page found his lead singer for his new band Led Zeppelin.

John Richard Deacon joined Queen in 1971 and their first album debuted in 1973.  Deacon has been a recluse and a retired musician since 1997.  His last performance with Queen was at the tribute show in London after the death of lead singer Freddie Mercury.  He is the only member of the band to not sing (lead or backup) on any of Queens tunes.
