Van Halen released their second studio album in March of 1979 and it peaked at number 6 on the Billboard 200 chart producing hit singles "Dance the Night Away" and "Beautiful Girls". The album has sold over 5 million copies to date and it ranks among Van Halen's best albums by critics and fans alike. The Rolling Stone Album Guide praised the album for it's feel-good, party atmosphere of songs. AllMusic gave the album 4 out of 5 stars and called it "some of the grandest hard rock ever made."
